What we eat directly affects the appearance of our skin. A diet rich in fresh fruits ,vegetables, lean meats, fish, nuts and seeds, good oils and dairy along with lots of water will yield healthy looking skin. Skin needs water and healthy food as well as aerobic exercise to function properly. When skin is categorized as Mature it means the function of our skin has slowed down. The turnover of healthy skin cells slow and diminish in quantity and quality. Mature skin begins to lose its Elastin and Collagen resulting in skin sagging and wrinkles. There have been many studies that show Natural foods and outdoor exercise increase the production of new cells in the body. By increasing our metabolism we not only lose unhealthy fat but also increase the metabolic function of the skin resulting in an increase in Elastin and Collagen. This increase helps the skin to look more tone, supple and hydrated. Mature skin can also be very dry so it’s important to address this by eating the healthy fats found in fish, nuts and seeds, avocadoes, olive oil, coconut oil and also drinking plenty of water and healthy teas full of antioxidants. Equally important is to limit dehydrating caffeine, inflammation producing refined sugar and alcoholic beverages.
